15 held in protest demanding ‘repeal ban on Matighar Mandala’ (photos)

KATHMANDU: A protest has been held in Maitighar Mandala against the ban.
On Sunday, the Nepal Student Association, Central Ad Hoc Committee, a sister group of the ruling party Nepali Congress, marched against the ban.
They conducted a 15-minute peaceful demonstration, carrying signs with phrases such as ‘Dear PM, we are here too’, ‘Stop abuse of the Local Administration Act, 2028’, and ‘Repeal the ban on Maitighar’.
As soon as the peaceful march concluded, the police detained individuals who attempted to violate the prohibition.
According to authorities, some 15 detained students are being held at the municipal police office.
Maitighar and its neighboring surroundings have been designated banned zones by the government, effective Mangsir 4 (Nov 20).
