1 dead, 4 injured in Bharatpur road accident
The accident occurred after a car hit an auto rickshaw that was on its way to the Bharatpur city area.
CHITWAN: One person was killed and four others injured after a Scorpio SUV rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Prembasti School Chowk of Bharatpur at around 4:00 am on Thursday.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, 44-year-old Min Bahadur Khatri Chhetri of Madi Municipality–7 succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
He had sustained serious injuries to multiple parts of his body in the crash. Chhetri was travelling in the auto-rickshaw at the time of the accident.
Police spokesperson DSP Rabindra Khanal said the auto (Ba Pra 03–001 Ha 2388), heading towards Bharatpur from Geetanagar, was hit by a Scorpio (Ba Pra 01–029 Cha 1417) coming from an inner road.
Among the injured, 72-year-old Harikala Khatri Chhetri of Madi–7 suffered a fractured right leg.
Ambika GC, 45, sustained injuries to her right leg and head. Similarly, 22-year-old Amit Khatri Chhetri sustained injuries to his arms and legs.
The auto driver, 33-year-old Surya Rimal of Bharatpur Metropolitan City–12, suffered a forehead injury.
Police said Amit’s condition is normal, while the other injured are in moderate condition.
The Scorpio driver, 34-year-old Krishna BK of Bhagyodaya Chowk, Gaindakot Municipality–6 in Nawalparasi, has been taken into custody for further investigation.
In the course of the accident, the Scorpio also crashed into a puja materials shop owned by Janak Giri in Prembasti, damaging the shop’s shutter, DSP Khanal added.
Police are investigating the incident.
