KATHMANDU: Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey has informed the parliament that the relatives of the 18 bodies of those who died in the Saurya Airlines accident have been identified.

He said this while informing about the plane crash in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Sunday.

Pandey also mentioned that due to the absence of a Nepali embassy in Yemen, coordination for the management of one Yemeni citizen’s remains is ongoing.

Regarding the airline crash, Minister Pandey noted that Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, who was seriously injured, is now receiving treatment and his condition is stable.

He further disclosed that Surya Airlines has borne all expenses related to the management of the deceased bodies.

Last July 24, at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), when Saurya Airlines’ plane crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the tragic loss of 18 lives, including a member of the flight crew, Captain Shakya was rescued in critical condition.
