KATHMANDU: Janata Socialist Party (JSP) Chair Upendra Yadav has held talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Yadav, who returned to the country early this morning after attending the 57th meeting of the UN Population and Development Commission in New York, USA, visited Baluwatar this morning to meet with Prachanda.

Discussions during the meeting reportedly revolved around resolving existing societal and political issues.

Yadav, accompanied by the Minister of Health and Population, is said to have discussed the prospect of his party’s participation in the government following its division. Regarding the possibility of any further party splits, the Prime Minister expressed a desire for unity, emphasizing the importance of avoiding fragmentation.

Yadav, currently residing in the United States, leads a faction of the JSP following its split. Seven out of twelve JSP lawmakers have parted ways with Yadav to form a new faction.

Chair Yadav has called for a meeting of the party’s central committee at the party headquarters in Balkumari.

During his stay in New York, DPM held high level meetings including with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and said Nepal would extend full support for making UN further effective.

Similarly, in the Commission’s meeting, DPM Yadav threw light on the increasing impact of climate change in the least developed countries including Nepal.

He also underlined the need for international cooperation and multilateralism to tackle pressing issues of time.
