Former President Bhandari honored with ‘Republic Dignity’ award

KATHMANDU: Communist Party Nepal (CPN) honors former President Bidya Devi Bhandari with “Republic Dignity” on the occasion of the CPN’s founding anniversary.

She was awarded with the honor on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the Communist Party Nepal (CPN) organized by CPN-UML.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Ministers Jhala Nath Khanal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai jointly conferred her with this honor.

The immediate past Vice-Chair of CPN, Bhandari, was recognized for her leadership role in ensuring representation of democracy, republicanism, and 33% of women in every state organ.

She had also served two terms as Nepal’s first female president.

Expressing gratitude for the honor, Bhandari acknowledged her role in the event and thanked the CPN.
