HCCN presents Lumbini Conclave peace message to Hon. Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCCN) presented the peace message of Lumbini Conclave to Honourable Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha at the ministry.

The message, an outcome of the conclave, is signed by Deputy PM and Minster for Foreign Affairs Shresth and Foreign Secretary Ms
Sewa Lamsal, along with all the Honorary consul and consul Generals in Kathmandu.

Organized on the agis of HCCN in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affair(MOFA), the ‘Lumbini Conclave on Global Peace and
Prosperity’ was convened from 21st to 23rd March in Lumbini. The conclave marked a resounding call to action for peace and prosperity on a global scale.

In the midst of adversity, global turmoir and conflicts, the conclave championed dialogue over discord, empathy over enmity, and
compassion over conflict, stressing the imperative of collective efforts towards human progress, peace, and development.

Representatives from 19 countries, including ambassadors and mission delegates, participated in this historic event. Notable
attendees included non-resident envoys from Greece, Mauritius, Indonesia, Mongolia, Serbia, Austria, Bulgaria, and Estonia, alongside non-resident ambassadors from the Czech Republic, Tanzania, Slovenia, Cyprus, Ireland, Spain, Latvia, Costa Rica, Poland, the Dominican Republic, and Romania.

Addressing a peace message handover ceremony held at MOFA Sunday, Honourable Deputy Prime Minister acclaimed the outcome of the conclave and added that the MOFA is ready to partner in future as well with HCCN to promote Nepalese interested in international arena.

Speaking at the handover ceremony HCCN Dean Vishnu Agarwal said that conclave was successful in delivering the message of peace from the birthplace of Buddha. He also said that the participating diplomats were very appreciative of the timing and message of conclave.

Hosted by the Honorary Consular Corps Nepal (HCCN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conclave saw
the active engagement of honorary consuls and consul generals from 45 countries, alongside key officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Lumbini Development Trust, the Investment Board Nepal, the Nepal Tourism Board, as well as experts and academia.

During a dedicated business session, along with Investment Board of Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board, conclave provided the information on business opportunities, tourism potential and Nepal Investment Summit Scheduled for April 28-29 to the visiting dignitaries.

Set against the serene backdrop of Lumbini, a city steeped in historical significance, the three-day conclave featured an array of
sessions, including an inaugural ceremony, a business session focused on promoting tourism and investment in Nepal, and a gathering at the revered Maya Devi Temple.

Central to the conclave’s discourse was the inseparable link between global peace and prosperity. In a message delivered on behalf of the participants, Honourable Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha emphasized the urgency of global solidarity and understanding, echoing the timeless teachings of Buddha.

At the conclave, participating dignitaries, accompanied by their spouses, immersed themselves in the spiritual ambiance of Lumbini,
visiting the Maya Devi Temple, exploring various monasteries within the Lumbini Gardens, and partaking in activities such as offering
prayers for peace and experiencing local attractions like the Lumbini Cable Car and the Kamakhaya Temple in Basantapur Palpa.

Most of the visiting international dignitaries,, visited Lumbini for the first time.

This gave the Lumbini Birthplace of Budhha the exposure as the tourist destination as well.
