Police arrest individual accused of selling counterfeit gold

KATHMANDU: On Monday, police apprehended Sher Bahadur Giri, a 54-year-old from Siliguri, India, on charges of allegedly selling fake gold for Rs 6 million.

The arrest took place at the District Police Office in Jhapa.

Giri claimed to possess 1 kilogram of genuine gold and had purportedly sold it to Savita Sitaula, aged 45, of Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality-2, Jhapa, for the aforementioned sum.

Following the discovery that the gold was counterfeit, Sitaula had filed a complaint with the police.
