Youth Federation Nepal faces internal rift over parallel committee allegations
Chairperson Bikal K.C. directed Rai on Saturday to submit his response within three days.
KATHMANDU: An internal conflict has surfaced within Youth Federation Nepal, the youth wing affiliated with the CPN (Unified Socialist).
The organization’s Central Disciplinary Commission has summoned Co-Coordinator Sanjiv Rai for a written explanation, accusing him of conducting activities contrary to the union’s constitution and decisions.
Chairperson Bikal K.C. directed Rai on Saturday to submit his response within three days.
According to the notice, Rai was appointed co-coordinator of the National Convention Organizing Committee on Chaitra 17 last year, following the recommendation of then in-charge Laxman K.C.
However, a meeting of office bearers and the central office on Bhadra 1 formed a new organizing committee under Chairperson K.C. to oversee the ninth national convention.
The commission alleges that Rai, acting against this official decision, established a parallel committee using the union’s logo, stamp, and flag for unauthorized political activities.
The notice warned that failure to submit a satisfactory explanation could result in disciplinary action in line with the union’s constitution and procedures.
The dispute reportedly involves senior party leader Jhalanath Khanal, who is accused of supporting Rai to form the parallel committee and positioning his son, Nirbhik Chitrakar Khanal, as vice-chairperson.
Additionally, Rai and Khanal are alleged to have business ties, including involvement in contracts and tenders, adding another layer of controversy.
