Yamal scores, injured as Barcelona edge Celta to extend lead

KATHMANDU: Lamine Yamal struck from the penalty spot before limping off injured as FC Barcelona secured a narrow 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in La Liga.

The 18-year-old converted in the 40th minute after being fouled inside the box, calmly beating goalkeeper Ionuț Radu.

However, moments later, Yamal signaled toward the bench and collapsed, clutching his left hamstring before being assisted off the pitch.

Barcelona maintained their grip at the top of the table, opening a nine-point gap over rivals Real Madrid with six matches remaining, moving closer to defending their title.

Coach Hansi Flick will be hoping the teenage star recovers in time for next month’s crucial El Clásico clash.
