Sudan urges constructive opposition, calls for unity in development
Gurung stressed the need for collective effort among all political forces to build the nation, stating that his party is committed to working for national progress.
KATHMANDU: Sudan Gurung, a leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said that political parties in opposition should not engage in criticism for its own sake and must instead support positive initiatives for national development.
Speaking at the inauguration of the party’s first district convention in Gorkha District, Gurung stressed the need for collective effort among all political forces to build the nation, stating that his party is committed to working for national progress.
“Good initiatives should be supported by all parties. Opposition for the sake of opposition does not help the country,” he said.
The Gorkha–1 Member of Parliament reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his election promises, saying he remains accountable to the voters who elected him. “I was elected not for photo sessions but to deliver results,” he remarked.
He also announced plans to soon establish a local secretariat in his constituency to address public concerns more effectively, adding that development priorities must be assessed fairly and transparently.
