KATHMANDU: Women took to the streets of Kathmandu on Friday, warning against attempts to weaken the constitutionally guaranteed proportional inclusion rights through political maneuvering.
The protest was organized by women’s rights activists in response to political parties and leaders allegedly manipulating the selection of proportional representation candidates.
The rally, part of the “Pressure Campaign for Women’s Rights”, began at Maitighar Mandala and culminated in a corner meeting at Babarmahal.
Activists from diverse sectors and backgrounds united, expressing concern that certain political practices were undermining the spirit of inclusion.

The protesters called for an end to societal impunity and demanded adherence to the rule of law.
Slogans resonated throughout the Babarmahal area, while placards carried by the demonstrators highlighted the defense and implementation of constitutionally enshrined rights.
