Woman killed in truck accident in Morang

KATHMANDU: A woman lost her life after being hit by a truck in Pathari Shanishchare Municipality, Morang, on Thursday evening.
The identity of the deceased, estimated to be between 30–35 years old, is yet to be confirmed.
According to the local police, the accident occurred near the Gorkha Department in Pathari Shanishchare–1, along the East-West Highway.
The truck, bearing the number KO 1 K 9751, was traveling from Urlabari to Belbari when it struck the pedestrian.
The seriously injured woman was rushed to Madan Bhandari Hospital and Trauma Center in Manglabare, Urlabari, but doctors declared her dead at 7:30 PM.
The truck driver attempted to flee the scene, but police later recovered the vehicle from a forest area in Belbari–10.
The driver, 40-year-old Balram Chaudhary from Ramdhuni Municipality–9, Sunsari, has been taken into custody.
Police have stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
