KATHMANDU: The hailstorm that accompanied the storm in Jhapa killed one person and left more than a dozen people homeless.

Damak’s 40-year-old Sailai Dhimal, who was injured when a tree branch was struck during a storm on Friday evening, died during treatment, according to police.

Dhimal, a resident of Damak-4 Tarabari’s Arnakhadi, was seriously injured when a tree branch struck him. He was taken to the hospital right away for treatment. However, he died on Saturday.

There have been reports of house roofs being blown off, crude houses being demolished, and tin roofs of industries being blown off in various municipalities throughout Jhapa, according to the District Police Office.

According to the police, the work of collecting and documenting the damage is ongoing.
