NC issues whip to its lawmakers to vote against incumbent government
Ramesh Lekhak, the Chief Whip of the Congress Parliamentary Party, issued a statement on Monday, instructing party members not to vote in favor of Prime Minister Prachanda.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has declared its intention not to support Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ through a letter of intent.
Ramesh Lekhak, the Chief Whip of the Congress Parliamentary Party, issued a statement on Monday, instructing party members not to vote in favor of Prime Minister Prachanda.
The Congress has directed its MPs to attend the Parliament session scheduled for Falgun 30 (March 13).
Following Prime Minister Prachanda’s formation of a new alliance, the Congress has withdrawn its backing for the government.
According to constitutional provisions, if the supporting party withdraws its backing, the Prime Minister must seek a vote of confidence within 30 days.
Following the Congress’s withdrawal of support, Prime Minister Prachanda submitted a letter to the Parliament Secretariat on Sunday, requesting a vote of confidence to be held on Falgun 30 (March 13).
