KATHMANDU: In a thrilling Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup, West Indies posted a competitive 176/8 against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Batting first after losing the toss, West Indies were powered by a brilliant eighth-wicket stand of 89 runs between Jason Holder (49) and Romario Shepherd (52*), lifting the team past the 170-run mark.

This partnership is now the highest-ever for the eighth wicket in T20 World Cup history. Earlier contributions came from Brandon King (21) and Shai Hope (16).

On the bowling front, South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi claimed three wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch picked up two each.

Both teams enter the match with one win each in the Super 8 stage, making this encounter crucial for a smoother path to the semifinals.
