Weather shifts across Nepal as westerly winds take partial effect
The MFD reported that a mix of cloud cover, fog, and mist is currently affecting various parts of the country.
KATHMANDU: Nepal has witnessed noticeable changes in temperature and sky conditions following the partial influence of westerly winds, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
The MFD reported that a mix of cloud cover, fog, and mist is currently affecting various parts of the country.
Since early Monday morning, partly cloudy conditions have been observed in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
While weather conditions remain generally clear in other areas, dense fog and mist have enveloped most parts of the Terai.
The Division has forecast that Sudurpaschim Province, along with other high-hill and Himalayan regions, is likely to experience generally cloudy conditions during the daytime.
Meteorologists have also projected light rainfall and snowfall at one or two locations in the high-hill and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
“Due to the influence of westerly winds, there is a possibility of light snowfall in some areas, which could further intensify the cold,” the MFD stated in its regular bulletin.
Dense fog in the Terai region may cause minor disruptions to road and air transportation.
Authorities have urged commuters and drivers to exercise caution, particularly during the morning hours when visibility remains significantly low.
The MFD has also warned that cold conditions will persist across the country and has requested the public to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the cold.
Cloudy weather and possible snowfall in hilly and mountainous regions could affect trekking activities and daily life.
