Water users demand tax removal on drinking water (photos)

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Drinking Water and Sanitation Users Nepal staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on Wednesday, demanding the removal of all taxes imposed on drinking water services.

Representatives from drinking water user committees and associations across the country participated in the protest, arguing that taxing a basic and essential service like drinking water is unfair and burdens citizens unnecessarily.

The protesters stressed that drinking water is a fundamental public necessity and a basic right of citizens, urging the government to immediately scrap all forms of taxation on the service.
