Ward Chair of Ghorahi-8 resigns, acting Chair appointed
Shah was elected ward chairperson in the 2022 local elections from the CPN (UML).
KATHMANDU: Jitendra Bahadur Shah, the chairperson of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City–8 in Dang, has resigned from his post, citing his inability to serve the people effectively.
His resignation, submitted at the end of Ashar, was formally approved by the municipal executive meeting on Monday after Mayor Narulal Chaudhary had already endorsed it. “As per the provision, the mayor approves the resignation. It had already been accepted earlier, and today’s executive meeting simply endorsed it,” Mayor Chaudhary clarified.
Shah was elected ward chairperson in the 2022 local elections from the CPN (UML).
However, he had repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with his own performance and had attempted to resign several times. In the meantime, his party had also taken disciplinary action against him.
Following Shah’s resignation, ward member Chudamani Chaudhary has been appointed as acting chairperson, according to Mayor Chaudhary.
