Violent protests target Former PM Deuba’s residence in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Protests in Nepal’s federal capital have escalated into violence, with demonstrators vandalizing the residence of Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Witnesses report that protesters broke through the main gate of Deuba’s residence, causing significant property damage.

Meanwhile, the home of Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in Naikap, Kathmandu, was set ablaze by demonstrators, resulting in substantial destruction, according to initial reports.

Security forces have been deployed in increased numbers at both sites as authorities work to regain control of the situation.
