KATHMANDU: Vianet, a leading internet service provider connecting millions of homes across Nepal, is now making its mark in the sports arena.
The company has become the official connectivity partner of the Chitwan Rhinos, one of the teams participating in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The partnership was formalized during a ceremony on Friday, where Shahin Shrestha, Vice Chair of Commercial and Marketing at Vianet, and Dr. Aashish Khadka, Chief Operating Officer of Chitwan Rhinos, signed the agreement.
The second edition of Nepal’s largest franchise cricket tournament, the NPL, is scheduled to take place from Mangsir 1 to Mangsir 27 (November 17 to December 13) at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. National player Kushal Malla will represent Chitwan Rhinos as their marquee player.
“We have been connected with sports from the very beginning. Our investment in sports goes beyond business—it is a responsibility to our society and the younger generation. Sports, like the internet, bring people closer and strengthen relationships. That is why we continue to support the sports sector,” said Shahin Shrestha, Vianet’s Vice Chair of Commercial and Marketing.
Since its inception, Vianet has made sports a key part of its social responsibility.
Earlier, the company was the title sponsor of the International Women’s Football Championship in Falgun and the Corporate Cricket League in Bhadra.
Vianet also appointed popular footballer Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba’ as its brand ambassador and launched the ‘Samba Pack.’
Through this collaboration with Chitwan Rhinos, Vianet aims to boost players’ morale, unite fans’ emotions, and serve as a bridge connecting sports enthusiasts across the country.
