KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a decline in its benchmark index on Tuesday, as the NEPSE index dropped by 26.16 points to settle at 2,674.48.

Similarly, the Sensitive Index, which measures the performance of large-cap companies, fell by 2.31 points and closed at 461.48.

A total of 353 companies were traded during the session, with 14,00,164 shares changing hands for a total turnover of Rs 4.36 billion.

Market breadth remained negative, as only 22 companies posted gains, while 239 recorded losses and 11 remained unchanged.

Among the most active stocks, Ankhu Khola Hydropower led the turnover chart, followed by Sopaan Pharmaceuticals, Reliance Spinning Mills, NRNA Infrastructure & Development, and Bungl Hydropower.

On the gainers’ side, Taksar Piluwa Khola Hydropower, Yambaling Hydropower, Laxmi Unnati Kosh, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme III, and Sunrise Bluechip Fund advanced.

Meanwhile, investors in Bungl Hydropower, Apollo Hydropower, Sopaan Pharmaceuticals, Kalinchowk Hydropower, and Suryakund Hydropower faced losses as their share prices declined.
