KATHMANDU: Veteran Indian actor Pankaj Dheer, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra’s television epic Mahabharat, passed away today at the age of 68 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Born on Nov 9, 1956, in Punjab, India Dheer’s life was a journey of dedication to the craft of acting, leaving an indelible mark on Indian television and cinema.

Dheer’s performance as Karna left an indelible mark on Indian television and popular culture.

For decades, his portrayal became synonymous with the character itself, earning him a special place in the hearts of viewers across generations.

Many fans admired his dedication to the role, noting how his nuanced acting brought depth and humanity to the legendary warrior.
