During the event, popular Nepali singer Sujan Chapagai performed songs from the movie, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Alongside him were key members of the film’s team, including actor Bipin Karki, actress Bhawana Khapangi Magar, director Naveen Chauhan, lyricist Harka Saud, music director Kovid Bajra, cinematographer Chintan Raj Bhandari, and executive producers Milan Khatri and Sagar Budhathoki.
The event also saw the participation of well-known artists from Sikkim and Darjeeling, including Anmol Gurung, Prakash Khetree, Simran Gurung, Riko Lama, rapper Deva, and Sonam Ongmu Ithenpa, who gave special performances.
Amrita Rai performed a dance to the popular song Kafle from the film, while Nepali dancer Suraj Singhjali Magar showcased a performance to Chainejo Jindagani Ma.
The film is slated to release in major cinemas in Darjeeling, Siliguri, Gangtok, Kurseong, Kalimpong, Assam, and Delhi starting Nov 21.
The film has already passed the Indian Censor Board’s scrutiny and is being distributed by Aslee Productions, with a special premiere show held in Gangtok on Thursday evening.
Director Naveen Chauhan expressed confidence that the film would achieve significant success in India, similar to its reception in Nepal.
Aven Rai, the head of Asli Productions, shared that this is their first venture into the Indian market and that they are committed to regularly bringing Nepali films to Indian audiences in the future.
Additionally, Sujan Chapagai announced that his band, “Sujan Chapagai and the Infinity,” will perform a concert in Gangtok on Dec 23.
Unko Sweater, which grossed over Rs 12 crore in Nepal and became one of the most popular films of the year, has been praised by both audiences and critics for its realistic story, powerful performances, and heartfelt music. The film is expected to replicate its success in India as well.
