UML secretariat meets to finalize senate candidates, review strategy

KATHMANDU: The Central Secretariat of the CPN (UML) convened on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur, under the chairmanship of party president KP Sharma Oli.
The meeting primarily focuses on the upcoming National Assembly (Rastriya Sabha) elections, the current political landscape, and preparations for the party’s forthcoming Central Committee meeting.
A key agenda is the selection of candidates for the National Assembly elections scheduled for Magh 11.
The meeting follows Monday evening’s discussions among the Nepali Congress, UML, and other parties over seat-sharing arrangements for the elections. UML is expected to finalize its candidates during today’s session.
In addition, party leaders are set to review the nation’s recent political developments and assess internal and external strategies.
The Secretariat meeting also prepares the groundwork for the second Central Committee meeting, scheduled in Kathmandu from Poush 27 to 29, where various proposals will be formally tabled and finalized.
