UML Chief Whip slams Parliament hall design
Mahar stressed that the House of Representatives hall must be made more dignified and aligned with proper parliamentary practice and standards.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar has accused the current government of focusing on dismantling most programs, structures, and practices of previous administrations.
Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives, Mahar also welcomed the decision related to the operation of the new federal parliament building, calling it a positive move.
He said the Speaker had recently inspected the new parliament building and raised concerns over its design and facilities. According to Mahar, the hall does not reflect the dignity expected of a parliamentary chamber.
“Members of Parliament are not here to watch films. The seating arrangement looks like a cinema hall, and the tables resemble classroom desks. This does not feel like a proper assembly hall,” he said, urging authorities to improve the design.
