4 years in RPP were most painful, says Dhawal Shumsher Rana
Speaking at a gathering of his faction in Kathmandu on Thursday, Rana accused party leadership of obstructing efforts to steer the party toward its stated vision and agenda.
KATHMANDU: Former General Secretary of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Rana, has described the past four years of his political journey as deeply painful, following his departure from the party.
Speaking at a gathering of his faction in Kathmandu on Thursday, Rana accused party leadership of obstructing efforts to steer the party toward its stated vision and agenda.
He alleged that RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden pushed him and his group to leave the party.
Rana said the group reached the conclusion that their ideology, values, and political agenda could no longer be advanced within the current party structure, prompting them to begin a new political journey.
Describing the present condition of RPP as a “cracked and decaying house,” he said meaningful transformation was no longer possible within its existing framework.
“We embraced Rajendra Lingden as party chair five years ago. Today, we are forced to leave that house. It is not a day of happiness but of sorrow,” he said. “When our values and mission cannot move forward from within the house we live in, we must have the courage to build a new one.”
He added that despite his efforts to strengthen and reposition the party as a leading political force, internal resistance prevented progress.
In a major development, 183 leaders aligned with Rana collectively announced their resignation from RPP during the Kathmandu meeting, formally breaking away from the party.
