UAE grants amnesty to 267 Nepali citizens

KATHMANDU: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted amnesty to 267 Nepali citizens on the occasion of its 54th Eid Al Ittihad National Day.
Following the announcement, the Government of Nepal expressed its gratitude and appreciation on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that the UAE government has extended the amnesty to Nepali nationals.
“The Government of Nepal highly values this gesture of amnesty as a reflection of the friendship, goodwill, and cordial relations between Nepal and the UAE,” the statement said.
The Ministry noted that the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi had repeatedly requested the UAE authorities for the amnesty, and the positive outcome reflects the ongoing bilateral cooperation.
Nepali citizens receiving the amnesty, provided they have no other pending legal cases, are eligible to return to Nepal, the ministry added.
