KATHMANDU: US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday via social media that Attorney General Pam Bondi will resign, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanchet stepping in as acting head.
The announcement came shortly after US media reported that Trump had dismissed Bondi, following growing dissatisfaction with her leadership at the Justice Department and her handling of Jeffrey Epstein-related files.
The New York Times first reported on Wednesday that Trump had expressed frustration over Bondi’s management of the department and was considering her removal.

Reports indicate that Trump was unhappy with Bondi over multiple issues, particularly her approach to Epstein files and perceived inaction against his political opponents.
Bondi’s departure marks the second cabinet-level firing since the start of Trump’s second term.
