Trump orders 5-day halt on strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure

KATHMANDU: U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the American military to postpone planned attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure for five days.

Announcing the decision on Monday, Trump described recent talks with Iran as “extremely productive,” saying the pause would allow additional diplomatic opportunities to unfold.

Earlier, amid rising tensions, the U.S. had prepared strikes targeting Iran’s strategic energy assets.

Analysts say the recent dialogue has temporarily reduced the immediate risk of conflict, with Trump’s move being seen as a significant step toward easing tensions in the Middle East.
