Top taxpayers honored on National Tax Day

Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal presented awards to individuals, organizations, and institutions that fulfilled their national tax obligations by paying the highest taxes in the fiscal year 2080/81.

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of National Tax Day, the Inland Revenue Department recognized outstanding taxpayers who have made significant contributions to the country’s economy.

This year, businessman Rajbahadur Shah was honored as the individual who paid the highest income tax.

Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal presented awards to individuals, organizations, and institutions that fulfilled their national tax obligations by paying the highest taxes in the fiscal year 2080/81.

Among institutions, Nepal Telecommunications Authority received recognition as the highest corporate taxpayer, while Third Eye International was honored among sole proprietorships.

Dabur Nepal and Verix Nepal Pvt. Ltd. were recognized in the goods and technology sectors, respectively.

In sector-wise awards, Dabur Nepal excelled in export trade, Poshak Breeder in agriculture and livestock, and Nepal Investment Bank in banking and financial services.

Nobel Medical College and Soltee Hotel were acknowledged as top taxpayers in health & education and tourism sectors, respectively.

Other notable awardees included Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket for goods trading, CDS & Clearing Limited for mid-level taxpayers, Bhotekoshi Power Company in energy, and IME in remittance services.

Nepal Telecom Company was honored for timely tax payments.

Among large enterprises with turnover exceeding Rs 500 million, BHF Services and Unilever Nepal were also recognized for their exemplary tax contributions.
