KATHMANDU: In a significant move to break the long-standing political deadlock and restore dialogue, the top leaders of Nepal’s three major political parties are meeting today.
The high-level discussion has been convened at the call of Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 2:00 PM at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
It will bring together Prime Minister Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Earlier attempts to hold the meeting on Wednesday and Thursday were postponed due to the leaders’ tight schedules.
The talks come at a time when political mistrust and widening gaps among the parties have stalled national agendas.
The meeting is being viewed as a crucial step toward consensus and cooperation.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the discussion will focus on pressing political issues facing the country.
