Tinkune incident caused by state, not Prasai: Dhawal Rana
Speaking at Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Rana said the unrest in Tinkune was a result of the government’s insensitivity.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Dhawal Shumsher Rana has demanded that the state take full responsibility for the Chaitra 15 Tinkune incident, stating it occurred not due to individual actions but due to state negligence.
Speaking at Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MP Rana said the unrest in Tinkune was a result of the government’s insensitivity. “The Chaitra 15 Tinkune incident was not caused by us or any individual,” he said. “It was the state that incited the unrest by provoking the people.”
Rana called for the formation of an independent investigation committee to uncover the facts and ensure accountability. “Why is the government afraid to investigate?” he questioned, urging the Speaker to consider their repeated demands for a fair probe.
He also defended medical entrepreneur Dr. Durga Prasai, portraying him as a person committed to serving underprivileged citizens. “Dr. Prasai has stood for the people. He is not to blame,” Rana emphasized.
Stressing the need for justice, the RPP lawmaker demanded that those responsible for the incident be identified and held accountable through a transparent investigation process.
“The truth must come out, and the guilty must face consequences,” he concluded.
