Tilak Raj Bhandari wins NPL emerging player award, gets Rs 1.5M scholarship
The scholarship can be used to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Management or IT at Presidential Graduate School in Thapagaun, Baneshwor.
KATHMANDU: Butwal spinner Tilak Raj Bhandari, named the Emerging Player of the Tournament in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2082, has been awarded a scholarship worth Rs 1.5 million by the tournament’s education partner, Presidential Graduate School.
The scholarship can be used to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Management or IT at Presidential Graduate School in Thapagaun, Baneshwor, which is affiliated with Westcliff University, USA, according to the college chair Laxman KC.
The 21-year-old played for Lumbini Lions this season, helping the team claim their first NPL title.
Bhandari made crucial contributions with the ball, taking 8 wickets in 8 matches. In the final against Sudurpaschim, Lumbini Lions won by 6 runs, with Bhandari bowling 4 overs for 26 runs and 1 wicket.
Earlier, he shone in the Qualifier 2, taking 3 wickets against Biratnagar Kings and earning the Player of the Match award.
Bhandari has previously represented Nepal U-19 and played in the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup, while also featuring in domestic cricket for Lumbini Province.
The young leg-spinner is considered one of Nepal’s most promising bowling talents. He also played for Lumbini Lions in the inaugural NPL season and was retained for the second edition.
Established 15 years ago, Presidential Graduate School has been providing education in Management and, for the past five years, in IT at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
