Three Nepali films hit theatres today with diverse stories
The arrival of three films at once has set the stage for strong competition, but audiences now have the opportunity to choose according to their taste—whether it be comedy, dreams, or tales of struggle and friendship.
KATHMANDU: Continuing the tradition of Friday releases, three new Nepali films—“Janai Harayeako Manchhe,” “Magne Raja,” and “Taraharu”—have hit the big screen simultaneously from this Friday.
While recent releases in Shrawan struggled to find commercial success, producers are hopeful that these festive-season films, coinciding with Teej, will perform well at the box office.
The arrival of three films at once has set the stage for strong competition, but audiences now have the opportunity to choose according to their taste—whether it be comedy, dreams, or tales of struggle and friendship.
Janai Harayeako Manchhe: A Tale of Urban Dreams
Directed by Himal Neupane, Janai Harayeako Manchhe portrays the heartfelt journey of a naive young man who moves from his village to the city, chasing dreams while facing struggles and relationship challenges.

Magne Raja: Satirical Dose of Laughter
One of the most awaited comedies, Magne Raja, introduces beloved comedian Kedar Ghimire “Magne Budha” in his first-ever lead role. Directed by Rishi Lamichhane, the film tells the satirical story of a villager dreaming of becoming rich without effort. The trailer showing Ghimire in multiple avatars has already built buzz among fans.
The cast includes Barsha Siwakoti, Wilson Bikram Rai, and Shishir Bangdel, with Aryan Sigdel making a special appearance. Written by Samipya Raj Timalsena and produced by artist-turned-politician Munal Ghimire, the film promises entertainment with a social message.
Taraharu: Story of Struggles and Friendship
Directed by Ashant Sharma, Taraharu reflects the struggles of lower-middle-class families in the city. It centers on a middle-aged man grappling with personal dilemmas, wrong decisions, and the healing power of friendship during hard times.
