SYDNEY: Three professional boxers from Nepal are preparing to participate in the renowned Thunderdome boxing event scheduled to take place in Australia this March.

The competition, set for March 13, will feature Vikas Rana, Mahendra Bahadur Chand, and Anil Kumar Pun Magar, each competing against Australian opponents in their respective weight divisions.

In the 69 kg category, Vikas Rana from East Rukum will go head-to-head with Devin Kelly.

Rana, who has been actively involved in professional boxing for an extended period through Max Boxing Promotion, is regarded as a seasoned competitor.

Meanwhile, in the 64 kg weight class, national champion Mahendra Bahadur Chand is slated to fight Tarana Subari.

This bout presents a significant opportunity for Chand, who has previously earned medals at the international level.

In the 61 kg division, Anil Kumar Pun Magar from Dang will challenge Australian champion Anthony.

A former junior national gold medalist, Pun has prior experience competing in Bangladesh and Dubai.

This match is anticipated to be a pivotal moment in his professional career.

The event is being jointly organized by Nepal Professional Boxing and Max Boxing Promotion. The proprietor of “Spicy Mummy” in Brisbane, identified as A.

Shrestha, has extended sponsorship to the Nepali athletes. Officials from the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) have also conveyed their best wishes, boosting the morale of the boxers.

This participation is expected to further strengthen Nepal’s reputation within the international professional boxing community.

Additionally, it has been noted that Mahendra Bahadur Chand, the talented boxer from Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, will also represent Nepal in another upcoming professional competition in Australia, competing in the 63 kg weight category.
