KATHMANDU: Kathmandu police have arrested three individuals for allegedly breaking into the room of former Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah.
The Kathmandu District Police Office said the suspects were apprehended today for committing the burglary at Shah’s room, located at Sitadevi Gurung’s residence in Kathmandu Metropolitan-4, Chappal Karkhana.
The arrested have been identified as 42-year-old Manish Rajbahak from Balaju-16, Kathmandu; 46-year-old Khim Bahadur Khadka from Lisankhu Pakhar, Sindhupalchowk, currently residing in Gairigaun, Kathmandu; and 45-year-old Sanjay Shrestha from Doti, now living in Khanikhola, Dhading.
Police Senior Superintendent (SSP) Ramesh Thapa, head of the district police, said the arrests followed information that convicts who had escaped from Nakkhu Prison on Sept 9 were involved in the burglary.
Investigations revealed that Rajbahak faced charges of theft, Khadka had a banking-related case, and Shrestha was implicated in a forced sexual assault case.
Police also recovered items used in the burglary and stolen property from the three arrestees.
