KATHMANDU: After the box office success of Man Binako Dhan, renowned filmmaker Tanka Budhathoki is gearing up for his next project.
On Friday, he officially announced the production of a new film titled Ba-Aama, inspired by his own popular song of the same name.
The original song was performed by Budhathoki along with Ashok Darji, A.R. Budhathoki, and Bikram Thapa.
Tanka Budhathoki will direct the film himself, with Ashok Darji and A.R. Budhathoki reprising lead roles.
Both actors had previously starred in Man Binako Dhan.
The casting process for other roles is still underway, according to the director. The movie title has already been registered with the Film Development Board.
The screenplay and dialogues are being penned by Shivam Adhikari and are reportedly in the final stages of completion.
Budhathoki confirmed that the story is inspired by the themes of the Ba-Aama song and emphasized, “Once the script is finalized, we will proceed with casting. Shooting is planned to begin from Baisakh.”
The upcoming film will focus on family and social themes.
Produced by Bishnumaya Mainali under Tanka Budhathoki Productions, the project marks her second collaboration with Budhathoki after Man Binako Dhan, which proved profitable.
Mainali said the success of their first film encouraged her to invest in this new venture.
