KATHMANDU: In the latest match of the Indian Premier League, Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), exposing Chennai’s continuing struggles with the bat.

Playing in Guwahati on Monday, Chennai were bowled out for a modest 127 after opting to bat first.

The total never looked sufficient as Rajasthan chased it down comfortably in just 12.1 overs, losing only two wickets.

The match was defined by a remarkable innings from 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryabanshi, who struck a rapid half-century off just 15 balls.

His explosive 52 all but sealed the contest early in the chase. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 38, providing steady support.

Earlier, Rajasthan’s decision to bowl first proved decisive on a pitch that initially offered assistance to bowlers.

Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger dismantled Chennai’s top order with pace and precision. Both openers fell cheaply for six runs each, leaving Chennai under immediate pressure.

The collapse deepened as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, reducing Chennai to 38 for 4 inside six overs.

Despite a late resistance from Jamie Overton, who scored 43 off 36 deliveries, Chennai never recovered fully from their early setbacks.

Rajasthan maintained control throughout, with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding ensuring Chennai could not build momentum.

Chasing a below-par target, Rajasthan’s aggressive intent was clear from the outset.

Suryabanshi’s fearless stroke play turned the match into a one-sided affair, underlining both his potential and Chennai’s ongoing concerns in the batting department.
