Sunsari accident: All 5 victims from same municipality

KATHMANDU: The identities of all five people who lost their lives in a truck accident that occurred this morning at Phulkhowk in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-8 of Sunsari have been revealed.

All the deceased in the accident that occurred on the morning of Maghe Sankranti are residents of Barju Rural Municipality-1 of Sunsari.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Khadka of Sunsari District Police Office, the deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Birendra Gurung, 55-year-old Brahmadev Gurung, 50-year-old Tekbahadur Gurung, 28-year-old Nisu Gurung, and 55-year-old Chandrabahadur Gurung.

The truck, bearing registration number Na 1 Kha 4541, was transporting marble from Biratnagar along the Hulaki Highway towards the west when it went out of control and overturned.

The five victims, who were riding in the rear of the truck along with the marble load, were crushed to death on the spot.

Police stated that nine people were on board the truck at the time of the accident.

Four, including the driver, were seated in the front cabin, while five laborers were at the rear.

The five at the back died instantly, while three others in the cabin sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a nursing home in Biratnagar.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
