Sujit Kumar Shakya assumes role as CEO of NIC Asia Bank

KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank Limited has officially appointed Mr. Sujit Kumar Shakya as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Following the decision of the bank’s 736th Board of Directors meeting held on Kartik 17, Mr. Shakya assumed his responsibilities today, Kartik 20.

With nearly three decades of distinguished service in Nepal’s banking sector, Mr. Shakya holds a Bachelor in Commerce (B.Com.) from Delhi University, India, and a Master’s in Management (MBA) from the Institute of Productivity and Management, Lucknow, India.

Mr. Shakya began his banking career in 1996 with the then Nepal Sri Lanka Merchant Bank. He later served in Himalayan Bank Ltd., the former Laxmi Bank Ltd., and from 2007, as Head of Business Banking at the former Bank of Asia Nepal Ltd.

He played a key role in the merger between Bank of Asia Nepal Ltd. and NIC Bank Ltd., subsequently serving as Assistant General Manager and Head of Corporate Banking at the merged NIC Asia Bank.

In addition, he has held senior leadership positions as Deputy CEO at Civil Bank Ltd., Janata Bank Ltd., Global IME Bank Ltd., and most recently as Senior Deputy CEO at Nabil Bank Ltd. before his appointment as CEO of NIC Asia Bank.

Recognized for his strategic vision, analytical acumen, and extensive banking experience, Mr. Shakya is expected to lead NIC Asia Bank toward achieving greater efficiency, dynamism, reliability, accountability, and results-driven performance, further strengthening the bank’s reputation and positioning it for continued success under his leadership.
