KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Royals have posted a competitive target of 148 runs against Kathmandu Gorkhas in Wednesday’s Nepal Premier League (NPL) match at the Kirtipur grounds.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Sudurpaschim were bowled out for 147 in the allotted 20 overs.

Sudurpaschim had a shaky start, collapsing to 59 for 5 by the 10th over. However, middle-order batter Harmit Singh produced a sensational counterattack to revive the innings. Singh smashed a blistering 53 off just 20 balls, hammering 2 fours and 6 sixes, completing his half-century in minimal deliveries.

His explosive knock was instrumental in lifting Sudurpaschim to a defendable total.

Skipper Dipendra Singh Airee also contributed significantly, scoring 39 off 30 balls with 3 fours and a six. Their partnership helped stabilize the innings after the early collapse.

Aarif Sheikh added a steady 25 off 24 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to make an impact.

Kathmandu Gorkhas’ pacer Karan KC was lethal with the new ball, dismantling Sudurpaschim’s top order.

He removed openers Josh Brown and Binod Bhandari for ducks in the first over before sending Chris Lynn back for just 2 runs.

Karan finished with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.

Sunny Patel and Milind Kumar supported well, taking two wickets each. Rashid Khan also claimed two crucial wickets, dismissing Airee and Aarif Sheikh while conceding only 23 runs in his 4-over spell.
