Speaker Ghimire, party Chief Whips leaving for Switzerland today
The absence of Speaker Ghimire and Chief Whips has resulted in the postponement of the House of Representatives (HoR) session for a period of 10 days.
KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire, along with Chief Whips from various political parties, is set to depart for Switzerland today to attend a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The absence of Speaker Ghimire and Chief Whips has resulted in the postponement of the House of Representatives (HoR) session for a period of 10 days.
Speaker Ghimire will be accompanied by Ramesh Lekhak, the Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress; Mahesh Bartaula, Chief Whip of CPN-UML; Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of CPN-Maoist Centre; Santosh Pariyar, Chief Whip of Rastriya Swatantra Party; and Ganga Belbase, a member of the National Assembly.
Furthermore, Padma Prasad Pandey, the Secretary-General of the Federal Parliament; Ekram Giri, spokesperson; Pradeep Guragain, international bench official of the parliament; and Tej Prakash Bhattarai, personal secretary to Speaker Ghimire, will be part of the delegation.
According to Ekram Giri, the spokesperson for the Parliament, the team, including the Speaker, is expected to return from Switzerland on March 29.
As a result, the Parliament session has been rescheduled to convene on March 31.
