KATHMANDU: Nepal’s fast bowler Sompal Kami has etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker for Nepal in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup history, surpassing the previous record held by Dipendra Singh Airee.

Sompal achieved the milestone on Tuesday against Scotland national cricket team, claiming three wickets for 25 runs in four overs.

With that performance, his overall tally in T20 World Cup matches for Nepal rose to 10 wickets, overtaking Dipendra’s previous record of eight.

This achievement further highlights Sompal’s longevity and consistency at the highest level.

He is also one of the rare Nepali cricketers to have featured in all three T20 World Cup campaigns Nepal have played — in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2014, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and the current edition.

Former spinner Basanta Regmi stands third on the list with five wickets in T20 World Cup matches for Nepal.
