Six injured in crane brake failure accident

KATHMANDU: Six people were injured after a crane met with an accident at the Kali Gandaki Corridor road section in Ranital, Gaidakot Municipality–4 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) on Tuesday night.

According to Superintendent of Police Yubaraj Khadka of the District Police Office, the crane (Lu 1 Ka 4437) was heading towards Gaidakot from Dhodeni when its brakes failed on a downhill section.

The vehicle then crashed into a roadside embankment.

The injured include crane driver 25-year-old Niraj Asrami Magar of Tansen Municipality, Palpa—currently residing in Mid-Bindu Municipality–11—as well as passengers Dil Bahadur Kumal (60), Nirmal Darai (27), Purna Prasad Darai (52), Arjun Bahadur Darai (53), and Amar Darai (50), all from Mid-Bindu–11.

All the injured were taken to Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur for treatment.

The crane has sustained damage and remains at the accident site. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
