Shashank Koirala defends Lekhak, slams character assassination
Koirala said he was convinced after the minister’s clarification that the accusations were aimed at tarnishing his image.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has claimed that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is being subjected to character assassination and baseless accusations.
Speaking to the media after the party’s office-bearers’ meeting held at President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Monday, Koirala said he was convinced after the minister’s clarification that the accusations were aimed at tarnishing his image.
“The Home Minister has not made a single mistake. All the allegations against him are false,” Koirala asserted, adding that Lekhak will respond to the charges in Parliament on Tuesday.
Koirala further revealed that the meeting urged the party leadership to seek clarification from those speaking against party leaders.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent remarks, Koirala emphasized that Nepal needs development and stability, not confrontational politics.
He stressed that facing challenges and finding a clear path forward is the need of the hour.
Koirala also highlighted that all components of the party’s organization must be treated equally, clarifying that ongoing meetings are solely aimed at finding a way out for the party.
