KATHMANDU: A mysterious fire has destroyed the Surkhet-based ‘Shanta Ko Achar’ outlet owned by former lawmaker and CPN-UML leader Shanta Chaudhary.
The outlet, located in Birendranagar, had been formally inaugurated only on Friday.
The fire broke out later that night.
According to preliminary estimates, the incident has caused damage worth approximately Rs 1.5 m

Terming the incident “unfortunate,” Chaudhary has demanded an immediate and thorough investigation to identify the culprits and take strict action.
Expressing her frustration on social media, Chaudhary wrote: “There seems to be fire in every step of my life. Which criminal set fire to my outlet in Surkhet? I request Nepal Police to immediately identify the culprit and take action.”
The outlet had been launched amid a grand ceremony, making the fire—just a day after opening—highly suspicious and a subject of public concern. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
