KATHMANDU: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 runs in a high-scoring Indian Premier League (IPL) clash on Saturday night in Hyderabad.
Chasing a competitive target of 195, CSK fell just short, managing 184 for 8 in their 20 overs despite a promising start.
Young batter Ayush Mhatre played an aggressive knock of 34, but his injury setback disrupted the momentum, leading to a middle-order collapse.
Earlier, SH posted 194 for 9 after being put in to bat. Abhishek Sharma delivered a blistering performance, smashing 59 off just 15 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a solid 59 off 33 deliveries.
For CSK, Anshul Kamboj and Jamie Overton impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets each to restrict SH under the 200 mark.
In response, CSK appeared well on track at one stage, needing 84 runs from 60 balls with seven wickets in hand.
However, disciplined bowling from SH turned the game around.
Eshan Malinga led the attack with three wickets, while Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with two crucial scalps. Shivam Kumar and Sakib Hussain took one wicket each.
With this win, SH climbed into the top four of the IPL standings, boosting their playoff hopes.
