KATHMANDU: Seven complaints have been filed against three proposed Justices of the Supreme Court and one nominee for the Judicial Council member position, according to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
In a meeting held on Thursday at Singha Durbar, Committee Chairperson Ishwari Devi Neupane informed that Meghraj Pokharel, Shreekanta Paudel, and Shanti Singh Thapa—nominated for Supreme Court Justice—and Mahesh Kumar Nepal—nominated for Judicial Council member—have been named in the complaints.
Chair Neupane stated that all seven complainants have been summoned to the Committee’s meeting on 13th Ashar to present their concerns.
Additionally, the proposed justices will appear before the committee on Ashar 15 to present their action plans and undergo a formal hearing.
Neupane added, “The committee will listen to the complainants on the 13th and will hold hearings with the nominees on the 15th to assess their action plans. A decision may be made the same day, or it could be extended to the following day if needed.”
Of the seven complaints, five are directed at Mahesh Kumar Nepal, the proposed Judicial Council member. The remaining two are against the Supreme Court Justice nominees.
The action plans of all four nominees have been circulated to the committee members for review.
