SC resumes full operations from today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court of Nepal has resumed full operations from today, following partial functioning since the fire and destruction caused during the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 24.
On Kartik 21, the Supreme Court’s full bench decided that all safe and previously blocked cases would resume regular proceedings starting Mangsir 1.
The decision also ensures that pending hearings will take place on their originally scheduled dates. “Cases whose files were preserved from destruction will be heard as per their pre-set schedules,” the full bench stated. “Other pending cases that had not yet been scheduled will proceed in accordance with the law. This notice is issued for the awareness of concerned parties.”
With services restored, all matters—including appeals, repeated petitions, review requests, and newly filed cases—will now be registered and heard from today.
The Janj Movement had completely destroyed the court’s physical infrastructure and burned several case files.
However, the Supreme Court’s Information Technology branch has successfully recovered the court’s digital systems, allowing the resumption of normal operations.
