Sandeep joins Lotto as brand ambassador, honors late niece

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s former national cricket captain and star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been officially appointed as the brand ambassador of global sports brand ‘Lotto’ in Nepal.

Announcing the news on social media on Sunday, Sandeep shared his excitement about joining hands with Lotto Sports Nepal.

Choosing Jan 25 for this announcement holds deep personal significance for Sandeep. The date marks the birthday of his late niece, and he revealed that his jersey number, 25, is also inspired by her.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Sandeep wrote, “Jan 25 is more than just a date for me. It forms the basis of my jersey number and has witnessed every milestone of my journey so far. It is the birthday of my niece, who left us before I could represent the country on the international stage. Her love and blessings continue to fuel my drive forward.”

Although the partnership with Lotto Sports was finalized a month ago, Sandeep requested that the official announcement coincide with his niece’s birthday, making this a tribute to her memory.

In a gesture of goodwill, Sandeep also revealed that a portion of his earnings from the endorsement will go to charitable causes.

He announced that Rs. 100,000 from the deal will be donated to a foundation supporting underprivileged individuals in need.

“With gratitude, I want to announce that I will be contributing Rs. 100,000 from my agreement to a foundation helping those in need,” he added.
